Unhealthy To Be Perfectionist by Ng Peng Hock

A perfectionist is one who regards anything short of perfect as unacceptable. But in the eyes of experts in psychology, perfectionists are those who hold unrealistically high standards and judge themselves or others as always falling short.

Using 45-item questionnaire, psychology Professor Gordon Flett at Toronto’s York University and Professor Paul Hewitt of the University of British Columbia conducted a long-term study to identify 3 types of perfectionists:

- Self-oriented (expect perfection of themselves);

- Other-oriented (demand perfection from others); and

- Socially prescribed (think others expect perfection from them).

Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, as what the researchers name it, is the first personality test (as at 2004) that focuses specifically on the trait from a multi-dimensional perspective.

I used to be one many years ago. Based on the classification, I supposed I should be classified as a self-oriented perfectionist.

During my college time many years ago, I had such a peculiar act: re-write all the notes taken during lectures because I want to have perfect neatness. So for every lecture, I would spend great deal of time re-writing, over and over again, until I felt satisfactorily. There was no affordable personal computer available then, so I had to write everything manually on papers. Imagine how much papers and time I had wasted. Of course, there were many other behaviors that also showed my perfectionism though I was totally not aware of. I did not really feel stressful at all. And, I was then too young and simply ignorant to realize how such behavior could adversely affect my health. Although I do not behave in that extreme anymore nowadays, I admit I still bear some characteristics of partial perfectionist.

As Professor Flett suggested, it is not easy for the perfectionists to change because their behavior can also lead to life and career accomplishments.

Some researches showed that perfectionists may end up with multiple health problems. When they are constantly under stress, health issues such as depression, eating disorders, chronic pain syndrome, marital discord, and even suicide can happen to them. Some previous studies also reported that stress is linked to increased heart rate and weakened immune systems. A recent research even found that long period of stress may actually raise cholesterol blood levels for some people. This means the risk of heart disease may subsequently be increased.

You are a perfectionist if:

- You cannot stop thinking about a mistake you made.

- You are intensely competitive.

- You want to do something just right or not at all.

- You demand perfection from others.

- You won’t ask for help if it can be perceived as a flaw or weakness.

- You will persist at a task long after other people have quit.

- You are a fault-finder who must correct other people’s mistakes.

- You are highly aware of other people’s demands and expectations.

- You are very self-conscious about making mistakes in front of others.

6 Tips on Generating Web Site Traffic with Traffic Exchanges by Donovan Baldwin

On our way to becoming an experienced Internet marketer, most of us have at one time or another used free traffic exchanges. This is not surprising as they promise free website traffic, and it seems to be so easy to just sit there and click away and watch the hits roll in. After a while, however, most of us begin to feel that either we are doing something wrong or free traffic exchanges just don't work!

Oh, they deliver free website traffic, all right, but nobody buys into our product or program. We soon figure out that the people looking at our page have seen it before, are bored by it, and are just looking at it, if they ARE looking at it at all, just to pass the time until the next click is due. Really, they are probably more interested in what is going on with their web page than spending time worrying about ours. Eventually, most people begin to feel that it seems so pointless and they drop out and go try something else.

Now, there ARE people using free traffic exchanges to generate real traffic, visits by interested people, to their website, only they have learned a few tricks to make this happen. They have learned, over time, how to avoid the more ordinary and common mistakes that a majority of people make while using free traffic exchanges.

1. They don't use their real page. Oh, sometimes an offer or a webpage is just so tempting or so universal in topic or its offer that it works okay...at least for a while. However, think about it. After a while, you began to recognize many of the web pages you were shown...over and over. You probably even begin to say to yourself, "i"ve seen that one before. That's the seventh time I've seen it in the last hour." That is, you might think that if you haven't already zoned out.

By the way, that "seventh" time may actually be a first time. You realize, of course, that perhaps you have actually been looking at seven other members of the same affiliate program who are promoting their affiliate link. Ever see "your" site roll by? Maybe it wasn't "your" site!

Part of the game for a successful Internet marketing experience is to stand out in some way, and this is especially true at free traffic exchanges. If you want to stand out, you are going to have to offer something that catches the eye of the other surfer and encourages him or her to click over to your real site. I am not going to go into a discussion of lead capture pages and splash pages right now, but a quick search on the Internet will provide more info.

They sometimes don't even send people to their "sales" or "pitch" page directly from the traffic exchange. After all, if you can offer someone some kind of gift just for dropping by that helps predispose them to look more favorably on other offers you present than they would if they just show up at a sales site.

2. They use the best free traffic exchanges. For a newcomer, or even for an old internet marketing pro, figuring out which traffic exchanges are the best ones to use can be a challenge. Rest assured, however, that it can be done and it is worth the effort. There are websites that keep track of these sorts of things and other important bits of data, and it is worth your time to track these down and use their knowledge to your advantage. The good news is that these are generally free and provide you with additional information about free traffic exchanges as well as the opportunity and tools to help build your downline in the various traffic exchanges.

3. They build a downline. Remember the hours you sat in front of your computer clicking away only to find that you have generated just a few hits to your site? Well, to make use of the relatively untargeted visits provided by free traffic exchanges, you need to have hundreds of hits...perhaps even thousands. There is no way most people can or will sit there for the hours needed to generate web site traffic in the volume required. In fact, there are just two ways; buy it or build a downline. Having hundreds of people in your downline at any one site, maybe even thousands, can provide the hits you need for free.

By the way, this brings us back to being with the best traffic exchanges as they will usually have the biggest base of people to view your site, will be the easiest to recruit people to, and may even allow you to buy a downline, as in the case of WebbizInsider.com.

4. They pay for services. This requires a little savvy shopping around, but once the Internet marketing professional has his or her free traffic exchange system up and running, they are willing, at some exchanges at least, to pay to upgrade to a professional level. Many traffic exchanges will allow an upgraded member to collect commissions on purchases made by their downline in addition to getting credits when they surf. Plus, an upgraded membership often includes extra credits as well. With a big downline, this could be a business in itself.

5. They experiment. Maybe I should say that they test. One thing works good at one exchange but not as well as another. It may be only the background color is turning people off, or it may be the whole design of the site. Maybe the product or offer is just not catching on. One test of a product is "did I like it", but, even so, not everyone is going to be interested in what YOU are interested in.

6. They treat their traffic exchange membership like a business. They take the stance of selling the traffic exchange they are using just as they would do marketing their main product or service. They will keep records, trying in some way to track which exchanges and which pages seem to be providing the best results.

People get tattoos for any reason, and sometimes for no reason. We get tattoos express your love, to express one's own self, as a fan or admirer of some idol, under peer pressure, to be up with the Jones'es or maybe just because its hip to get one.

Whatever the case is, many of us in adult life end up regretting this youthful adventure. It could be because the tattoo reminds you of a broken love relationship or may be that visible tattoo is coming in your way of getting good job or joining a coveted university. In other words, you desperately need to get it out of your way, but the very memory of the painful procedure you went through to get it done gives you cold feet.

There are several ways a person can undo a tattoo or at least make it less visible. All, barring one, are very painful and cumbersome. But before discussing ways to remove tattoos, let's first understand what is a tattoo.

What is a Tattoo

A tattoo, or dermal pigmentation, as the term self explains is a mark made on the skin by inserting pigment into the skin. It is accomplished by injecting this pigment into small deep holes made in the skin. Tattoos made this way are relatively permanent.

Apart from permanent tattoos there are also temporary tattoos. They are more like body sticker, similar to a decal. Temporary tattoos are made on the skin by transferring the design on the skin, rather than inside the skin, using water. Temporary tattoos are waterproof, but can be removed with oil-based creams, and are intended to last only a few days.

Methods of Tattoo Removal

There are several methods of tattoo removal available today showing variable performance, result wise and procedure wise. It is the size of the tattoo, its location, and the length of time it has been on the skin which make the physician decide upon the method to be used. The patient's healing prowess also plays its part in deciding the method to be used.

Let's now discuss the methods.

Surgical Method

It is one of the most popular methods around, especially when the dyed area is small. The major advantage here is the removal of the entire tattoo in one go, particularly if it is small tattoo. Larger tattoos, however, require multiple surgical sessions where the centre of a tattoo is removed first followed by removal of sides at a later date.

The surgical removal process involves an injection of a local anesthetic to numb the area after which the tattoo is removed. The edges are then brought together and sutured.

With this procedure, there is minimal bleeding which is easily controlled with electrocautery. In some cases involving large tattoos, a skin graft taken from another part of the body may be necessary.

Rubbing the tattoo off

In this method, the tattoo is literally scrapped off. It is quite painful and cumbersome procedure but practiced nonetheless. There are two ways by which a tattoo is rubbed off the skin:

Dermabrasion

This procedure of tattoo removal involves spraying of a portion of the tattoo with a freezing solution, after which that part is sanded with a rotary abrasive instrument causing the skin to peel. Because some bleeding is bound to occur, a dressing is immediately applied to the area.

Salabrasion

This is an age old method of tattoo removal. As with the other methods, a local anesthetic is used on and around the tattooed area after which a solution of ordinary tap water dipped in table salt is applied. An abrading apparatus such as the one used with dermabrasion, or an even simpler device such as a wooden block wrapped in gauze, is used to vigorously abrade the area. When the area becomes deep red in color, a dressing is applied.

Laser

Laser tattoo removal is considered as the best of the solutions available. Though it is costly and might require multiple sessions, it ensures that tattoo removal is relatively pain free and blood free. Also the results have been quite encouraging and tattoos have been either totally removed or there were dramatic fading.

Laser tattoo removal procedure involves exposing the tattoo to the pulses of light from the laser, usually Q-switched Nd:Yag, Q-switched Alexandrite and the Q-switched Ruby. This exposure breaks up the tattoo pigment, which are removed from the body by the scavenger cells. More than one treatment is usually necessary to remove the entire tattoo.
